Discussion - A Favourite Read From 2019

Today I’d like to share with you, not only one of my favourite reads of 2019, but one of my favourite reads ever!

Sanctuary by V.V. James is truly stunning!

Self described by author V.V. James herself as a police procedural with magic this book is a fresh twist in the fantasy genre.

I reviewed it at the beginning of the year but I wanted to highlight again just how phenomenal this book is as it has just been released in paperback. This picture features the beautiful Hardcover edition with green sprayed edged available from Illumicrate.

This is one book that is always one of my go to recommended books and I can’t state how much you should get yourself a copy. It’s a halfway house between small town mystery and magical fantasy and this mix has lead to an incredibly intricate investigation into the lives of the characters. Making you emotional connect with them on a whole new level and the added twist of magic keeps you on alert, aware of every little increase in pressure. The tension truly never drops.

I can’t stop thinking about the plot and the characters, nearly a year later.

It’s a five star read and will suit fans of fantasy, contemporary and crime genres.

Synopsis - ‘The small Connecticut town of Sanctuary is rocked by the death of its star quarterback. Daniel's death looked like an accident, but everyone knows his ex-girlfriend Harper is the daughter of a witch - and she was there when he died.

Then the rumours start. When Harper insists Dan was guilty of a terrible act, the town turns on her. So was his death an accident, revenge - or something even darker? As accusations fly and secrets are revealed, paranoia grips the town, culminating in a trial that the whole world is watching . . .’

If you don’t follow Dr Victoria James (Vic James/V.V. James) on IG, you need to! She’s such a lovely person and her lockdown stories I am loving right now!
