The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Review

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Review:

The hunger games was one of the first pieces of literature I ever got into. The first to make me feel intensely. And this book was a disappointment beyond words. The only interesting thing I found about it was read on the first page. (SPOILER, but it’s on the first page so continue if you like) President Snow as a boy was poor. That’s it. The rest was so utterly stale, stagnant. And I only pushed myself to read the full book because of my love for the Hunger Games series. I wish I hadn’t. I wished I’d DNF’d it because it just got even worse! I don’t often bash a book. I know the effort every author puts into their work. The years and years and blood sweat and tears it takes. So, I always try and find something I can highlight. But I just can’t. Maybe the narrator made it worse? He sounded utterly mechanical but really I don’t think the story was there. The characters weren’t there, the setting. Yes it gave us a look into early Panem and how un-fantastical it used to be. And a quick look at the early hunger games but it was written in a way where I just didn’t care. I usually love seeing the villains perspective and their origin story but it was just stagnant. I wasn’t made to care about any of it. I sadly would recommend this book. ⭐️

As for the picture, as you all know I’m a week behind on my October festivities. So, yes it is now November but I didn’t want to miss out on capturing spooky season’s colours! And there’ll be a Witch inspired post or two coming your way. Being poorly shall not stop me! I just happen to be late.
