The Wicked King. Oh, how it lives up to its name. Very wicked indeed.
This sequel does not disappoint and again delivers twits and turns I couldn’t predict.
The dynamic between Jude and Cardan feels far ore it is a play of vulnerable moments and the tugging of power. Watching their relationship change from the first book and continue to evolve throughout this one especially with something huge and all-consuming hanging over them that has utter control over one of them and power o the other was brilliant to read.
Again, this book brings the spy drama to faerie but its not the same old tricks there are new political issues to deal with, larger than the last and it is totally absorbing.
One of the most fascinating parts of the books was seeing what happens when someone o has always craved and fought for power, finally gets it. Regardless of Jude’s good motives having that will, that control when that has been, she has wanted for as long as she can remember is an incredibly interesting struggle that keeps the emption seeping and tension taught.
This is a strategy game, through and through. In the beginning paragraphs, it says ‘You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring.’ and it is brought back right at the end leaving you with a wicked smile knowing what Jude would think. ‘You have no idea.’
Five Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
